Young NTUC approached us back in 2006 to look at ways in which we can allow Young NTUC members to interact better. We suggested that they revamp their forum engine and helped started the forum from scratch. We also helped in the programming support of event registration forms.

We recruited several members through our friends network, active forummers from other forum, social networks like Friendster, Facebook and Twitter as well as through new signups via Young NTUC email blast. Since 2006 till now, we are altogether able to achieve 1000 members with over 51000 posts. We continue to be active in welcoming forummers, moderation and upgrading the forum regularly, and members feel warm to be part of the forum.

THE CHALLENGE
To revamp the current website so that New Shan staff will be able to add and update airfares, hotel as well as tour / free & easy prices as soon as the rates change. This will enable the website visitor to see more accurate and up-to-date rates as compared to the current website in which updating is manually done.  The new website must also have the capability of providing online booking of airfares, hotels, apartments, tours and free & easy packages, for the convenience of the website visitor. The challenge was to make the website interesting and vibrant since it is to sell travel related products.

THE SOLUTION

The old website tends to be dull and seems to be lacking some “human” element, making it look “cold”. The colours used are dull and not vibrant enough.

We decided to give the new website a “lifestyle” concept and look, since travel is a lifestyle choice! The colours chosen are bright and signify a dynamic company promoting dynamic travel products.  We helped New Shan source, shortlist, and purchase a number of stock images that will add a sense of vibrancy to the website.  The use of “people faces” images helps to create a happy and friendly mood to the website, making the website visitor feel at home when they visit the website. 

TRAVEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Based on the requirements gathered, we proposed and developed an integrated Travel Management System for New Shan Travel complete with e-shopping, content management, member management and booking engine.

The business rules (function operation logic) for Airfares, Accomodation, Free & Easy and Package Tours are all very distinct and very different. They are individually discussed and focus group discussions were held with staff that are in charge of these individual areas. The outcome of these focus group discussions were then analysed before the Requirement Specifications were produced and confirmed, afterwhich database design and development kick stats.

The functions of this integrated Travel Management System are listed below:

WEBSITE (INTERNET)
The features of the new website are as follows:

1. Member Management – Allows members to update their profile, browse and book travel products.
2. Promotions – Allows the website visitor to see travel products that are on promotion.
3. Airfare Specials – Allows the viewing of airfare promotions.
4. Airfares Section – Contains all airfare destinations and its corresponding prices, complete with Integrated Booking Engine.
5. Free & Easy Section – Contains all Free & Easy Packages and its respective prices, complete with Internet Booking Engine.
6. Package Tours Section – Contains all Tour Packages and its respective prices, complete with Internet Booking Engine.

• Installation and configuration of ASP Image component (for image resizing).
• Auto responder Email is sent to administrator for every entry submitted.
• Uploaded images will not be shown on the website until approved by administrator.
• Administrator to login via admin module to view photo entries sorted by Caption (Alphabetical).

THE CHALLENGE

HBH Group Pte Ltd was established in 1985. We were called to revamp their existing website that they have for HBH Group and HBH Singapore as well as HBH Marine. They also wanted us to design a self-administration for HBH Marine as well as a feature where companies can place a purchase order (PO) to them via the HBH Marine website, somewhat like a B2B Website.

THE SOLUTION

We held several user focus group discussions to determine their business operations as well as the functions that they required and suggested that they develop a main HBH Group website that contains an overview of the other affliate companies like HBH Singapore and HBH Marine.

THE CHALLENGE

To design and develop 5 Animated E-Greeting Cards for NTUC [ namely Hari Raya; Deepavali; Seasons Greetings; Chinese New Year; Labour Day ].

THE SOLUTION 

• Submission of storyboard for amendments before implementing animation.
• Style of animation preferably to be consistent stylish corporate look.
• Number of frames per ecard limited to 2-3.
• Allow for keying in of sender name, recipient name and email plus personal message; all to be shown as part of the ECard animation inside the flash file.
• To incorporate a sense of feel of “being union”.

ECard Engine
Ecard Engine that will reside on internet servers that will allow NTUC staff to send ECards internally as well as to people outside the organisation, comprising of the following:

• Selection of a type of ECard to send [ namely Hari Raya; Deepavali; Seasons Greetings; Chinese New Year; Labour Day ].
• Keying in of Sender Name, Sender Email, Message as well as up to 30 Recipient Names and Recipient Emails.
• The system will capture the date that ECard was sent out AND date in which ECard is picked up / seen by recipient.
• An Administration module will be provided for authorised staff to view the ECard engine log.

THE CHALLENGE
Client currently do not have a web presence and also need a means for them to be able to self update website information. The requirements are that they need a self-admin module that can upload the trial virus software. documentation, news releases as well as top threats announcements.

THE SOLUTION
The design for this project was not done by us but by another design agency. We are supporting the design agency on the information analysis, database and programming aspects of the project. The following functions were developed :

• News Management
  - Allows staff to manage their own company news releases.
• Upload of Anti-Virus Software [30 Day Trial Latest Edition Download]
  - Staff uploads  latest Anti-Virus software (30 day trial); so that website visitors can download and try the anti-virus software before buying.
• Upload of Virus Removal Tool
  - Staff uploads Virus Removal Tool when they are available so that website visitors can download and use them.
• Top Threats Announcement
  - Staff can announce Top Virus Threats on the homepage.
• Document Management
  - Staff uploads Anti-Virus related Documentation for website visitor to download.

THE CHALLENGE
W&W Plastic and Polymer does not have a web presence. Our challenge is to web-enable them and to promote their website such that the total company sales volume will increase by 30%-40%. This is a small and medium company that looks into the needs to market its products and positions their services in the competitive market within a tight budget.

THE SOLUTION
A requirement and needs analysis session was conducted with the client to understand the business objectives and purpose of the website. It was identified in that session that there was a need for a basic website that is simple yet informative, containing all of the products as well as its own site search capability.

Due to the nature of the client’s business, we propose that there is a need for a Polymer Terminology Search feature, O-Ring Size Search and Unit of Measure Conversion as well as Mailing List feature. Web promotion is also another key area of focus for the client. With all the requirements gathered, we proposed and developed the website for W&W Plastic and Polymer.

WEB DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
Web site design & development consisting of image enhancement, content copywriting and creation, navigation enhancement and site optimisation.

The website has these few key functions listed below:

• New Polymer Terminology Search.
  - Loaded the Polymer terminology and developed the search using ASP.
• O-Ring Size Search Service.
  - Loaded common O-Ring sizes and developed the search using ASP.

Unit of Measure Conversion
- Loaded the varioud Unit of Measure used.

WEB PROMOTION
We did several online submissions and promotions to the prominent search engines and within 3 months, client seen about 30% to 40% increase in sales, with the first orders coming from Asia Pacific region and beyond!

Great Knowledge Enterprises was awarded the project to develop Crocs website for Crocs Singapore and Crocs Australia when Crocs started its operations in Singapore.  At that point in time Crocs (US) was in the midst of revamping their old website as shown below:

THE CHALLENGE
For these 2 websites, we took design lead and work closely with the marketing staff from Crocs USA as well as their design agency, often communicating via Skype for the coordination of the design specifications for the project. Crocs Singapore and Crocs Australia website is to take lead from Crocs US website for consistent branding purposes. The requirement was to have a uniform design with Crocs USA as well as Shopping Cart functions as well as a shoe configurator in which the website visitor can choose the color of the shoe and visualise before purchasing. Order recieved from Crocs Australia  was also to be centralised in one order processing unit so that Crocs Singapore staff can process orders for both countries.

THE CHALLENGE

Victoria University that is based in Switzerland, wants to position itself as one of the top universities in Europe. As such, it wants its current website to be revamped. It also wants a web-based system that will provide a systematic approach to student registration, tracking, course/module management, mark/grade management, student announcements with the flexibility of being able to be further customised to manage multiple schools if there is a future need for it. We had focus group discussions with staff and management and proposed an integrated Student Management System.

THE SOLUTION

We had to redesign their website as well as the Student Management System so that they can manage their backend processes better and more efficiently. An overview of the Student Management System is shown below:

They are head quartered (HQ) in Singapore and they own and operate 3 separate education institution. The Student Management system has to be designed taking this scenario into consideration. The Student Management System was to be implemented for Victoria University first and then the system can be further customised for system rollout for the other 2 education institutes in future (eg. School 1 & School 2).

INTEGRATED STUDENT MANAGEMENT
The Student Management System (SMS) is a web-based system aims to provide an integrated total Student Management System solution, streamlining the current internal work processes and back-end processes of student application, registration, course selection, grading and circulation of information (electronic notice board) to the students.  The students use the system to submit their enquiries and feedback, apply courses, view results/notices/updates for the particular course.

Student Management System Features

1. Administrative Setup Module: Manage necessary master files like User, Campus/Course/Module.
2. Student Module: Manage Student related information and complete student details.
3. Broadcast Module:  Manage / Show student announcements.
4. News Module:  Allows for staff to post News Release / University News and Events.
5. Enquiry Module: Captures information of every Contact Form (feedback) sent.
6. Marking/Grading Module: Assign Marks / Grading for students.
7. Results Module: Release results to web for students.
8. Student Area: Shows data that is related to students only. Eg. Grades, Class Contact List. Student can also read news or notices that are relevant to their faculty, course or event subject.
9. Online Search: Perform enquiry on student related data and course listing. 

Integration to Other Systems

We also can integrate the Student Management System to several sub-systems like Students Affairs, My e-Leave, Totally HR and Alumni Circle. Each of these sub systems will perform specific roles and provide total backend process management for any educational institution.
